 Pt. Reyes Lighthouse
I took a drive over to Point Reyes on a Saturday afternoon--a hot day inland but quite cool along the coast. I arrived about 5:00pm. There were only a very few people along the road to the lighthouse this late in the day but the light was wonderful. Photo data

 Coastal Patterns, Big Sur
It's easy to get hypnotized by the wave action far below the pull-outs on Highway one. I stood atop a rock for several minutes watching the wave patterns change and change again, never repeating. I wonder how many tourists inadvertently pitch over the precipice into the drink, having become pleasantly mezmerized by the wave-play far below their feet.

Photo taken at Bixby Bridge, Big Sur, looking south.

 Boisterous Evening Waves, Big Sur
The waves rolled in with increasing strength as the sun went down, and as their strength increased so did the wave-generated mist in the air, which added itself to the summer haze.

 Evening Breakers, Rocky Point
As I shot this view I wondered if the folks living in the house at upper right had come to like the constant, distant thunder of the waves pounding their doorstep night and day.

Mcway Falls, Julia Pfeiffer Big Sur Park
McWay Falls is a beautiful and popular stopping place on Highway 1. This is probably because it's only a very short walk from the parking lot to the overlook, which is equipped with convenient boardwalks and vantage points for photography. I suspect that the flowers in the foreground of this photo were also imported for the photographers. Photo data

Promontory, Near Mcway Falls, Big Sur
I liked the abstract quality of this view, which is a feature of the exceptionally high contrast between the sun-mirroring water and the dark, rocky promontory that intrudes into it. Photo data
